Recovery Mode
By default our battery powered trackers will check in 4 times a day, however if an asset is stolen or missing we may want to set the device to check in more frequently so that the asset can be recovered.
When an asset is in recovery mode it will check in more frequently when stationary but will also start tracking based on device movement so that you will know its live location.
Recovery mode can be set from the website or the app. On the website recovery mode can be set from the asset management page, using the gear icon and then enter asset recovery mode. On the app, select the asset form the list to navigate to the live page, then using the three dots menu selecting asset recovery mode.
Once you have clicked enter recovery mode you will be prompted to choose the expiry time. This expiry time is from when the recovery mode message is sent to the device, the device will not enter recovery mode however until it next checks in with the server.
For example on a device that checks in every 6 hours:
6am – the device checks in
9am – Recovery mode is set for 12 hours (expires at 9pm)
12pm – The device checks in and then enters recovery mode
9pm – The device exits recovery mode and resumes checking in every 6 hours
If an asset is recovered while recovery mode is still on you can turn it off the same way it was turned on. It is worth doing this as the battery power consumed in asset recovery mode is much greater than normal operation.
